"With images of war haunting him daily, U.S. Army veteran River Roulet cannot seem to break free of the past. Awake or asleep, it's impossible to forget the bombs, the death, and the trembling of the earth. In a desperate attempt to distract himself from these horrors, he flees to Brazil, hoping the rich landscape and vibrant culture of Rio de Janeiro will drown out the nightmares. This stab at a new life takes an unexpected turn when River meets Natal, an impassioned jounalist and free spirit. Her presence rekindles a curiosity for the world around him that River thought was lost to him forever. It also catapults him back into the life of danger and violence he so desperately sought to escape. Pursued by both a powerful drug lord and the Brazilian government, River must flee the city...and use every trick in his arsenal to stay alive."--

Just finished this book. And to be fair I mainly took the book out because Chad Michael Murray was one of the co authors. But I was pleasantly surprised... I kind of had an idea where the story was going and was completely stunned when I realized I was wrong. Great story line, didn’t want to put the book down and was well written!

This is another very good book by Heather Graham. It was also written by Chade Michael Murray, whom I have not read any books by. In this story, an U.S. Army veteran, River Roulet, is suffering images from the war. He decides to take all his money and travel to Brazil. He finds a woman who he falls in love with. He also wants to take down the drug czar, but doesn't know who he can trust. He travels the country while eluding the drug law and the government. I did not see the ending coming the way I pictured it. This is a page turner from beginning to end.
