Wild west, fantastic fake!
Serious points (paradox of: Indian progress, railroad, civil war heroes, greed and prosperity, law of nature and law of Man, life on the frontier...a long list from such an action-packed comedy thriller and visual splendor) conjured from non-exhaustive entertaining sequences (e.g. yee-haw train-ride, the most spectacular!), worth reflection, awe and even shatter many.

Tonto may be doubtful as a goofball and a over-competent native Indian, his bromance with "the wrong brother" lone ranger, along with other "white brothers" (the evil and the brave), interweave their relationships into an intrigue and allegory.
Johnny Depp shines in ghost aura reminiscent of Jack Sparrow, but what swirled in vast sea of desert and rocks surpassed the actions heated over tropical ocean and forest.

It's bloody and cruel, but more magical and fun. I can never get tired of watching it over and over. A rare gem in western action genre, smelting in American history, dazzles or not, its many hues appease the discerning eyes.

It is by far one of the worst films I have seen. Not worth the time. I can;t believe I watched it. What was I thinking?????

If you go into this movie knowing and embracing that it is a goofy adventure movie, then I think you will enjoy it. I thought it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the similarity to The Princess Bride in that the majority of the movie is a story being told to a kid.

It wasn't a bad movie... It wasn't a good one either. It had it's moments and was occasionally humorous but I am pretty okay with not having seen it in theaters.

This is the lowest I've ever seen Johnny Depp go--it was almost like a "blackface" performance.
The movie overall was pretty dumb as well, a plot and characters (caricatures?) only children would accept, but too much violence for children.

I am a JD fan. I do not pay attention to critics for my movie choices. If I want to see it I will, but I have to say, they were spot on with this one. Take Jack Sparrow and out him in the desert and you get the Lone Ranger. As per usual with Gore, the action scenes are 20 beats to long. Does he know how to edit a film. Johnny says he is bringing respect to the character, but still speaks in broken English. The carnival scene was a detour that was unnecessary to the story line. Why was Helena in this film, you dd not need her to propel the story line. Armies character boring and stupid, literally to the very end of the film. The makers of this film thought all you needed was Johnny, but they were wrong. Children today have no relation to a movie based on a 1040's(?) radio program. Cowboys and Indians are not their thing. This reference is too long in the tooth for me and I am in my 40's. They needed a core group and that group is too old or dead to see the film. Horrible script , mediocre acting, terrible story line, too long a film, insignificant supportive cast, and the list goes on. Johnny will make films for years if he wants to and people will go and see them. In the future he should not blame critics for his missteps and poor box office performance. A critic can help make a film, but I have yet to find one that could break one. FYI, Armie Hammer has not recovered from this film and probably never will. Disney kept cutting the budget, postponement after postponement and 200 mil + dollars later, they loose tons of cash. That's probably why another pirates is coming to get recoup some cash and credibility. What a disappointment. Except for the horse, now that was some mighty fine acting.

I am surprised that this movie did not do very well in the theatres. Highly entertaining western. All of the classic elements: action, adventure, humour, and more. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone.

Tonto: [translating "kemosabe"] Wrong brother.

Latham Cole: I want to show you something. From the time of Alexander the Great, no man could travel faster than a horse that carried him. Not anymore. Imagine; time and space, under the mastery of man, power makes emperors and kings... look like fools. Whoever controls this, controls the future.
