In this book, a pushy chicken repeatedly ignores the feelings of the alligator and insists on having a sleepover that the alligator doesn't want. I guess it's supposed to be cute, but I found it to be a very bad lesson on plowing through your friend's feelings in order to get your own way. It undercuts a lot of the things we try to teach our child, like that if you tell someone you want to be left alone, they should leave you alone. I think that this book teaches unhealthy messages about consent to very young readers. It encourages kids to ignore their instincts about new situations and give into pressure, rather than offering constructive ideas for working through fear or shyness. Do not recommend.

Snappsy the Alligator discovers that the annoying narrator from Snappy's picture book debut
(Snappsy the Alligator Did Not Ask to Be in This Book), has not left his house since the party in book one! Narrator Bert makes himself at home at Snappsy's and wants to have a BFF sleepover party where they can do classic sleepover things like apply temporary tattoos to each other, drink smoothies, and watch scary movies. Snappsy would rather relax and read a book without the annoying narrator.

A super read-aloud! Highly recommend. This book can be enjoyed without reading the first tale of Snappsy and Bert, but book one sets up the introverted/extroverted friendship dynamic.
