I have never been a fan of the Marvel Comics universe (I actually walked out of "Iron Man") but James Gunn has scored a major coup with this slap-happy amalgam of CGI wizardry, adult humour, and whizz-bang pyrotechnics. Teeming with geeky in-jokes (Howard the Duck makes a cameo!) and a supercool soundtrack of retro hits ranging from Glen Campbell to Ziggy Stardust, Gunn’s manic energy splashes the screen with so much comic mayhem that I found myself smiling without even knowing why. And that cast (both flesh and graphics) produces a synergy seldom seen in the movies. A little bit of "Star Wars", a dash of "Raiders of the Lost Ark", and a touch or two of "Lara Croft" all make for one hugely entertaining—and very funny—space opera.

This movie is really dumb and horrible. First of there are no morals what so ever, and it's the most annoying movie you could ever watch. I don't recommend it.

Call me sentimental, but Rocket and Groot's friendship may be what I'll remember most about this movie.

70% violence, 15% attempts to be funny, 10% offensive language, 3% romance, 2% sort of funny stuff.
Are you serious, Marvel?
A stupid, silly, and unnecessary movie. It encourages violence and killing innocent people. The main characters are cardboard and disgustingly immoral. My opinion of Marvel has considerably decreased. This is a savage piece of garbage that I will never watch again, with many cringe-worthy moments. The only interesting parts were the beginning scene and the slightly funny part when all Groot says is "I am Groot".

Rewatched this to refresh my memory in order to watch Volume 2. Loved it all over again!

Great movie. So much fun to watch. Ohhh the boundless imagination of Stan Lee. He’s the real superhero!

Screaming, yelling, shooting, punching, kicking, hitting, smashing, and crashing. And those are just the good guys. Opening scene and soundtrack are promising, but the promise is not kept.

I love this movie! I am truly sorry I didn't see this in a theatre! It's much better than Star Wars! And there are St. Louis connections if you look closely. I hadn't read the comics before seeing this but I am definitely reading them now!

I was skeptical and flustered when Marvel would turn this property into a movie. I'm happy to say my initial feelings were incorrect! This is a great movie, funny, silly, with loads of action!

Groot: I am Groot.
Peter Quill: Well that's just as fascinating as the first 89 times. What is wrong with Giving Tree here?
Rocket Raccoon: Well he don't know talkin' good like me and you, so his vocabulistics is limited to "I" and "am" and "Groot," exclusively in that order.

Well, on my planet, there's a legend about people like you. It's called Footloose. And in it, a great hero, named Kevin Bacon, teaches an entire city full of people with sticks up their butts that, dancing, well, it's the greatest thing there is." Gamora: "...Who put the sticks up their butts? That is cruel..."
