A rogue submarine captain pulls together a misfit crew to go after a sunken treasure rumored to be lost in the depths of the Black Sea. As greed and desperation take control onboard their claustrophobic vessel, the increasing uncertainty of the mission causes the men to turn on each other to fight for their own survival.
"The film's patina of richly textured grime lends the film a gloomy, claustrophobic beauty that serves its mood, as well as its satisfyingly misanthropic message ..."--Washington Post.
"Jude Law makes for an effective rogue submarine captain in 'Black Sea,' a fittingly immersive thriller, tautly directed by Kevin MacDonald."--Los Angeles Times.
"A contemporary submarine thriller that serves the genre well."--Boston Globe.

Reasonably interesting formula thriller. Not a great film, but has a good cast, good sets, and good pacing. Mostly predictable story with just a couple of twists. Scoot McNairy is an interesting casting choice for his character, and he does a great job with it.

An adventure film that has room for its characters and a gripping adventure. It's a good old fashioned tale. I enjoyed it.

I can only anticipate in wonder, not knowing if he was rescued in the end, thats a whole nother country.

In the 1960s and 70s movies like this were turned out by the dozen, a lot of them based on novels by Alistair MacLean, including a submarine one, Ice Station Zebra. All-male cast, the inevitable treachery and sacrifice. That said, this one is quite exciting, if you suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride, i.e. the dive. British and Russians working together - that will be the day!

I thought it was a great movie with the odd witty line. I liked the way it portrayed a group of men, who didn't necessarily trust each other, be forced to work with each other. I found the acting good. Were there bubbles? I don't know. I was concentrating on the story. Did they salvage the gold bars. Watch until the end and find out.

Good study of characters in an enclosed environment. I liked Jude Law's character was a good change from his usual character. Well done story.

Only one clever plot twist, otherwise, you've seen better submarine flicks, better flicks with Jude Law, better movies. It would have to be snowing for days with Internet down and all other movie options already recently viewed to make this worthwhile.
